Coffee Buzz

Today I visited Cutters Point Coffee at Uptown for the first time. It's very different from the Cutters Point flagship at Olympic Village. It's cozy with big leather chairs and a fireplace and also has awesome desserts, specialty foods and little gift foods too including;

  • Handcrafted coffee beans that are locally roasted
  • a complete variety of dark and light roasted coffees
  • A variety of loose leaf Mad Hat teas
  • Italian sodas, smoothies, soy and chai drinks
  • Yogurt and granola parfaits
  • Candles, chocolates, CP gift cards, gift baskets, decorative easter bunnies, orginal arwork
  • cards by local artist, easter suckers, candy easter eggs, Pastries and

Need something for a "grown up" Easter basket. Cutters Point Uptown is the place to look.

You can have a small meeting (maybe six or less), meet a friend or just sit and enjoy your coffee while using their free wi-fi. They are open late too for after a movie or dinner at the new Sip Restaurant. Definitely a hidden jewel in Gig Harbor you should check out! http://web.me.com/ggrunberg/Cutters_Point_Uptown/Welcome.html

Sip a little

Well tonight I was privledged to be a part of a VIP event at Sip, the new wine bar and restaurant in Gig Harbor's Uptown. They open officially on Thursday, and although I expect there will be a wait, I think it will be worth it. It's chic yet rustic, cool but cozy all at once. I couldn't begin to name all the different wines, and the menu looks excellent. Tonight the served some beautiful petit appetizers - a tantilizing prevue to what is in store. It was fun...another something new to do in Gig Harbor!

Is it summer somewhere?

My son and his friends actually went wakeboarding today on Wollochet Bay. Our high temp was about 55 degrees....but I guess when you are 18 you don't notice. It's like that when you are born and raised in the Pacific Northwest...what is that TV commercial? For Pemco I think...you know the one "here's to you sandal and sock guy...". Anyway, seeing them wakeboarding, full wetsuit, reminded me of that. Desperate times require desperate measures I guess. Hopefully we will have a positive turn in the weather soon!

Sunshine did get me outdoors today too, a little weeding, diveded some daylillys, puttered about. It was nice. The sweetpeas are peeking out of the ground...everything is slow, but it will come soon.

Wine-ing in Gig Harbor

Last night my husband and I visitited the Harbor Greens Wine Bar for the first time. You gotta try it. We had an O'Reilys Pinot Gris (drank the whole bottle - $22, bought another to take home for only $12) but it was the food that was so great. Small plates we enjoyed included a phyllo wrapped goat cheese thing, caprese on Naan (Yum), small house salad with walnuts and cranberries, and a melting hunk of brie covered with a fig reduction. It was enough for dinner plus the atmosphere was cool. We arrived at 5:20 and got one of two free tables and by the time we left at ten to seven there was a line out the door. Live music was starting at 7pm. Check it out. It was great!! Our appetizers (dinner) and wine for two with tip was $65.

Definitely check it out. Harbor Greens Wine Bar, right next door to Harbor Greens Market on Olympic Drive near the OLD movie theater.

Spring in Gig Harbor

Well its the first day of Spring, but it looks exactly the same doesn't it? As much as I hate to say it, even Gig Harbor's weather can suck. So, this weekend is probably and "indoor girl" kinda weekend.

Trying to pinch pennies? Three inexpensive community theater performances take place this weekend in Gig Harbor; Encore! Theater presents a final presentation of Suessical, Paradise Theatre presents a final weekend of Godspell and Gig Harbor High School presents a final weekend of Guys and Dolls.

Or watch the March Madness games at the Tides Tavern - enjoy food, drink, basketball and a waterfront view.

Get all the weekends events at www.gigharborguide.com.

A little rain never hurt anybody.

Blogging Virgin

This is my first blog. I love Gig Harbor and want to blog about it. Small town, but not as small as just a few years ago. Mostly good, honest, hard working and engaged citizens. Sure we have our problems, but nothing insurmountable.
What do you think? I want to talk to you about all that is good about Gig Harbor; to see, do, taste, smell and enjoy.
